Brute cooler

Who's got one? I know Travis does and saw where hennaple didn't like his but I think that was the older model.

It looks like the brute 75 is way more bang for buck than any comparable Yeti. But I can handle another 50-75$ for a superior cooler.

At the risk of this becoming a yeti vs -- I am thoroughly pleased with my yeti, and have been for several years. I personally believe they get a bad rap because they take so long to get cold. ---Most people don't realize the importance of precooling a cooler.

Also here's a good article if your interested.

That's another option. My in laws have a costco membership and I might do that. I really like the brute looks and features.

+1 on pre-chilling. I think the Brute and Pelican are great too. I used my Yeti this last weekend camping. Day 1 put in refrigerated food and beverages and ice, on day 2 noticed significant ice loss, but no further loss from day 2 to day 3. I am betting it took a lot of "ice energy" to cool the cooler itself on day 1. Next time I will throw a couple bags in a few days early to chill it. I'll do the opposite (pour hot water in for a while) the next time I'm going to let some butts foiled and wrapped rest.

My brother has a brute, yeti, and an ice hole and whenever i get a chance i steal the brute to "borrow" for awhile.  To me they all have certain advantages but i like the brute most of all because of its handles and latches.  It has more traditional handles on the side that that make it easier to carry by yourself in addition to the rope handles.  The handles are also slotted so they can be used for tie downs.  The latches are also easier to use because they use a lever action (if that makes sense) as opposed to the straight rubber latches on the yeti.

Exact reasons I like the looks of brute better.
