First overnight Boston butt

So first post on the forums, but have been grilling on my egg for over 2 years now. Got a week off at school so I decided to start enjoying my break with a couple Boston butts. 2 6lber's @ 225 for about 12 hours then bumped to 300 for about an hour to jump the stall from 185 to 190.

Have to say it went amazing, though did lose heat in middle of the night randomly. Any critiques welcome and suggestions on a good smoker system to keep temps regulated?

Pics below!

nice looking cook! I use the DigiQ WIFI but it takes a bit to set up and keep the probes out of any open flames or high heat, the weakest link. I can either have a web page with temps or it can email you, apparently you can't do both. I also use it for temps up to about 400 but I have to go through top and I bought a high temp She image

@dagriller‌ where did you get that heat shield material? I'd like to put that on my maverick. It's very clean looking

It's actually for automotive but it works perfect for this application. I will find where I purchased and post on here but I believe it was this web site: http://www.cableorganizer.com/thermo-sleeve/ I chose the 1/2" sleeve 3ft

  • Thanks for the comments. I have been told by many other elder egg heads that digiq guru is a great choice. I think if I had something super fancy though I would ruin it. Home Depot and I have a great relationship thanks to me buying about ten different cheap digital thermometers and meat checkers. I make them last about a month, and then they are toast. I guess I just wonder if I can easily mess up a expensive set up easily.

Thanks for that link, I will check into that.

Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...
