New to site, but wanted to say thank you to all. Y'all have given me tons if info recently.
I just recently purchased a XL BGE and I didn't waste anytime getting started on my Egg Carton. I found out quickly it's no fun to buy one and leave it in the box it came in. I have a couple question on a table. I have seen many pictures of tables that the bottom portion of the egg is closed up on three side. Has this become a problem for anyone? I will post a picture of the table I'm building. It turn out a little heavy but hopefully when complete it will be decent.

Can't help you with the table question because all my eggs are in nest but I will bump back to the top. BTW welcome aboard and enjoy!

Mine is closed in on three sides, no problem! I even used the same screws so your all set. B-) Welcome to the forum and enjoy the cooks!Bristow Virginia XL&Mini One of the best feelings in life is watching other people enjoy the food I cooked!

Maybe it's just the picture but it looks as if the egg is sitting in there really tight. Is there side to side wiggle room? Remember it's got to have room to grow with heat or it'll crack. Fwiw.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Well I completed the top today, cut the hole out to the recommended 26 1/4 and couldn't wait to try it out. It does have a good 3/4 of a inch to grow on all sides. So I did steaks they turn out great. I also took some reading with a temp gun. Internal temp 600.. Dome never got over 240 and the area around the wood(cut out) on the ceramic 130ish. Wood around the cut out and inside the closed in part 80ish.
