Easy to clean/durable table top stain or coating

I built my table last year for by LBGE and used it for the summer.  I have hooks all around the outside for tools, but I would set the grids or plate setter on top and now it has black marks on the top surface.  I plan on resanding and finishing the top surface again this summer, but looking for ideas on the best solution to prevent the marking.

Get a stone tile or slate to sit the hot stuff on. A 500 degree ps is probably going to scar any wood. A remnant of granite maybe.

I don't have that problem and the top still looks like new 2 years after making the table, and I use it a lot.  I saturated the wood with marine epoxy, then several coats of spar varnish.

Sand between every coat.

Cabots Australian Timber Oil....stains wood and repels water. Also, no need to sand each year. Just apply another coat as needed.
