Has anyone had much success grilling artichokes?

  • Martini Mark in MSP,
Funny you should ask. I plan on grilling artichokes today. I have never done it myself, but there is a restaurant in town that does and passed on their secret to me. First they steam them for about 10-15 minutes. They cut them in half length wise. Then they baste each half with butter and olive oil and spices and slow smoke for around 20 minutes indirect heat. They use mesquite but I only have hickory. Let us know how they turn out if you proceed with this method or other. Jeff

  • Jeff in San Diego,
Well....I passed on the artichokes at the store, bought asparagus instead. I've done that before & it works good on the egg. I figured the artichokes would be like doing garlic though. I'll wait & see how yours come out....please keep me posted!
