Cooking on a cracked Egg

Even though I got my replacement Egg in under 3 days, and picked it up Thursday, work got in the way of taking apart the old one and putting the new one in. Both boys are home and wanted ribs, so I decided to try cooking on the cracked Egg. I was planning on putting the new Rutland gasket on the old one this weekend, and peeled off what was left of the old gasket before the pizza cook last weekend that cracked the Egg.
Between no gasket and the big crack in the bottom, this thing is leaking like a sieve. Pretty good winds not helping. I have the bottom vent closed completely, the daisy wheel open about as little as I can (a tiny opening in just 2 of the holes), and I can't get to stay below 260 grid (Calibrated Maverick). Dome is 310. Just put on the ribs, and told the Mrs. we may be eating early. (I will FTC if necessary).
It's 70 degrees out and sunny, and I convinced her that I need to sit out all day and keep an eye on it. Cooking sure makes you thirsty.
