Egg Tabel Compromise

So, I've had my egg for the better part of a year now and I bought the little package with the folding wooden shelves, thinking that would be plenty of room. It was fine at first while I was learning the tricks of the trade but soon became abundantly clear that I needed more food-prep space as my cooks became larger and more elaborate. Thus began plans to build the Egg Table. I browsed the forum and some other websites for ideas and got my plans together over the past month. I knew that I was going on leave at the beginning of March and would have time to build when I got back from my trip visiting family in Houston, but when I got back to San Diego I suddenly got cold feet. I realized that I didn't have the space or all the tools that I would need to turn out a product that I would really be proud of. I have taken on many DIY projects in the past but nothing of this magnitude, I live in a town-home with a concrete slab for a back yard and no garage. I just wasn't up for that headache right now, but what to do about counter space? A bit more browsing the forum and I had found a picture of someone who had made an Egg Table out of a pre-fabricated wire cart. That got me to thinking, and after a quick trip to the big box hardware store and a granite supply warehouse, this is what I came up with. Hope this helps anyone who is in the same boat I was. Special thanks goes out to everyone who posts on here, your ideas, recipes, and guidance have been invaluable to me. Any recommendations on a grill light?

That's a great idea! If you have access to an angle grinder grab a masonry wheel and knock off those sharp edges. Eventually they are gonna bite someone!Bristow Virginia XL&Mini One of the best feelings in life is watching other people enjoy the food I cooked!

I like this idea. Where did the table come from? If I can just store the grate and plate setter for my XL I'd be happy.XL egg owner, home brewer, jogger, coffee roaster, gamer

I thought about using one of those cabinets, but was worried about it not being water proof. Did you seal the cabinet?Simi Valley, California

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll see if anyone I work with has a grinder I can use.The table came from Home Depot, the casters were separate though, it came with adjustable legs.

That was my concern as well, I sealed all the cracks with silicone and all of the metal joints with a can of flex seal. Everything should be good except for the door hinges, but with as much as it rains in SoCal, I'm not worried about it. Also there are open holes in the bottom above the casters so if any water did get in it would be minimal.
