OT - GREAT Weekend!

This is somewhat BGE related as we ate BGE goodness all weekend. Brisket, pulled pork, bacon wrapped chicken thighs, pork chops, ribs, twice baked taters etc...

My parents live on an acreage in a beautiful rural part of the midwest. When we were growing up, we farmed and had an ATV that we used for livestock chores and FUN. The old 4 wheeler is a 1987 Yamaha that has been totally put through the wringer. My wife and kids were riding it a couple of years ago and they had a little mishap (no one got hurt THANKFULLY!) but the machine really needs to be retired for safety.

Back in December, I found a nice used one on Craigslist and my siblings and I bought it to give to my parents. They are struggling right now due to my Mom having been diagnosed with a really aggressive cancer back in September. She's had surgery and is in treatment right now so she can't work. This forced my Dad out of retirement and he's now working 50-70 hrs a week since Mom doesn't have short term disability through her insurance.

Anyway, we (the kids) are trying to help them enjoy LIVING and get out of survival mode. It was in need of some service work but overall its in very good shape and should last them for years. Plus the grandkids love to go for rides when we get to take them to the country.

I think they're pretty happy with it. Their smiles just bring tears to my eyes and I'm so thankful my siblings and I were able to do this for them.

Life is good.
