I know the feeling, we (literally) got snowed in down here in Austin yesterday. Schools, businesses, even roads closed. It was serious, 24hr news coverage.

Pertty nasty out this way too. 400 plus people in warming centres off HWY 10. Supposed to get another blast today

What's a warming center?Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Not sure, but down here I think we call them hurricane shelters.

A public building, arena, town hall, library etc. They put cots and red cross blankets in and supply food and water. Strong winds last night with snow and a lot of the roads drifted over. Complete white out right now. I could take a pic but couldn't show you.

Medium, and XL eggs in Galloway NJ. Just outside of Atlantic City. -

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. It was rough, but we made it. While walking the dogs, my hands got a little cold. I had to use my pockets.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. I'm the guy holding a beer.

Thanks for the update. We were worried. Stay inside! Do you have supplies stockpiled? I have to go out but I'm not sure which pile my truck is under.

I almost ran out of beer, only weird Sam Adam's variety pack left. Today is in the sixties, so I can restock safely.
Good luck up there, if you need any tips or tricks for weathering the cold, I'm here -+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. I'm the guy holding a beer. -
The pile behind the trees is just part of what was in the driveway (not the little pile you can see, behind the tamaracks). Couldn't see the bush out back until recently. I am real sorry to hear about things in Austin. Stay strong. Warming centres are where people go when they lose power. Up here if older folks lose power, they end up dead - no joke.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

That's nuts! Hope it's warmer soon for you.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++Austin, Texas. I'm the guy holding a beer.

@canugghead hope the roads are good. You went by our place if you went to London. Or within 10 mins at least. Drive safe.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

Damn skippy. I keep "traction control"(kitty litter), a blanket, and a set of warm clothes in the car in case stuff hits the fan. All after rescuing my wife during the DC" snowmaggedon " a few years ago. A line of cars started following a plow onto a backroad and all got stuck in the middle of the night(sedans). I wound up driving 3 people to a gas station along with my wife in my Rav4. Homie don't eff around. -
Thanks @gmac, will I see your egg smoke from the 401? btw, do you know anything about the Boss Hogs bbq place in London?
canuckland -
Sorry @canugghead I don't know much about it. Fill us in. I'm afraid I don't usually go to BBQ places because I'm always disappointed compared to what I can make on the egg at home.No Egg smoke today - everyone here is sick with a bad cold.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

Gary,
If the one that's attached to the hotel on Wellington Rd. it doesn't suck. I wouldn't expect too much though. I stayed there for a week last year.

Boss Hogs is over on Wharncliffe I think. I will have to give the one on Wellington a try if you say it doesn't suck.Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

It's a genuine smokehouse but the brisket and pulled part are not what we can produce

@gmac hope you folks get better soon. Have to agree with you about eating out in general, not just bbq places (unless it's Chinese or Indian) ... don't people call us eggheads food snob?Yes it's on Wharncliff. I heard the place has been opened about a year, many trophies from the Southern Ontario ribfest circuits were on display. We had ribs, brisket, corn bread, scalloped potato, grilled veg and cole slaw for lunch... (gave up trying restaurant pulled pork long time ago and didn't want to take a chance getting day-old chicken) quick review:ribs - quite good, has a tug and comes off the bone clean, decent smoke ring, not very smokeybrisket - not much smoke, drowned in gravy!scalloped potato - nice and cheesy but a tad too salty for our low-salt palatecole slaw - averagegrilled veg - nicely charred but definitely 'off', especially the carrots ;((May be it was not a good idea to visit on a slow, snowy Sunday.canuckland
