@Dredger previous tables always had the resevoir under it to keep away from light. Lined the table with the backing they use for showers and then glued that down and cut a 1" hole in the middle of the table and sealed a section of PVC pipe. The PVC pipe top is lower than the table sides so if there ever was an issue with the pump timer the table can't overflow it just drains back to the resevoir. Then just drill a couple holes in the sides of the pipe at table level so it can drain back into the resevoir after the pump cuts off. A pump in the resevoir with a hose goes around the edge to flood it then just time how long the pump needs to run. In the past we always used cuttings and put them in rooting hormones and into 1" rockwool and let them root through that before we transferred them to 4" cubes but I'm not sure if you can take cuttings from veggies. A friend of mine has an aerogarden he isn't using I may borrow that from him for now to start learning. Is lettuce very hard to do that is probably where I will start.

Lettuce is probably the easiest to grow. Plant the pods and within 3 weeks, you can do your first harvest. You take no more than 1/3 of each pod and it just keeps growing and lasts for several months before you need to replant. If your friend has used his machine to grow before, be sure and sanitize it before using it. This will tell you how to do it. I use the Vinegar method.

Edit: Aerogarden just changed their sale from seed kits to a discount on the garden starter systems, which is what you use to start seedlings for a spring outdoor garden.

You're right gmac. Sorry Eggcelsior. Lit, PM me with any questions or let's start a new thread. After all, salad goes with steak. Right?

    No worries.

For an update, the Water damage companies are slammed so the earliest I can get anyone is tomorrow morning. I rented 3 dehumidifiers and a turbo fan to try and dry stuff out.

On a bad note, the ceiling drywall in the kitchen is bubbling and swelling around the beams. It will need to come down. It looks like the floors will have to come out of the master bath, walk-in closet, and half the master bedroom. The vanity in the MBR and just outside have swollen.

All because of a 1/2 inch 90 degree PVC joint that leaked for about 1 minute.

Man eggcelsior that blows. Hopefully the builder can be held responsible. A buddy called me yesterday and he was helping one of our friends get 100 gallons of water out of her basement and she got the same response. 5 days till they could get someone out.
