The wife asked me to do some wings tonight, so I guess I had to, right?  Wings were cooked raised-direct at 400 with cherry.

Oak Ridge BBQ Death Dust + corn starch

Wow, these suckers were freaking hot as hell.   :D  I made my daughter take a bite and she was cool for 30 seconds before she ran for the milk.   :P

As much as I love to see the "traditional" @cazzy wings, it's nice to see you do what I do most of the time.  As a side note I do enjoy your method very much.

So tired of cooking, wish I could drop in on you.  Looks good.

Oh, and commiseration to your daughter, I have been having frequent reminders of yesterdays jalapanio pizza experiment.

@cazzy. I need to think about the note as my next phone. The only thing I don't like about the S3 is the camera.

Speaking of photography, have you seen the new National Geographic "Around the world in 125 years"? Looks awesome.

Those are some juicy wings! Habanero Death Dust is one of my all-time favorite rubs.

Really like the camera the Note 3...it has a 13mp camera and while useless IMO, it also shoots 4k video. Several cool features too.

I've seen some of the pics, but i definitely need to pick up the mag or find the pics "on the line".

They definitely were...really quick cook too since they were just flappers. As soon as I got the color I wanted, I checked their temp and they were already at 180. Perfect! Took about 20-25 min.

Dude, the DD is great, but there is no reason to layer it on like I did. I had to man up, but next time I'll back off a tad so I can enjoy them more.

I see the corn starch recommendation a lot. How much do you use, how do you put it on the wings and does it make a big difference?

I find corn starch helps but air dry really helps the crispy factor more.

I do a 2 (rub)/1 (CS) mixture. I mix them together and shake them on the rings with a shaker bottle.

I think it helps crisp them up a lil and gives them a different texture thst we really like. Almost like a think breading.
