Preserving Big Green Egg Table

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Years ago I bought a table for our big green egg and because we didn't know what we should put on it to preserve and care for it, we never put it together.[p]What do I need to do to this table in order to keep it in the best shape possible over the years?

  • It is wood. I would treat it like a wooden boat. Use some high quality spar varnish. You may want to consider a stain first it you want to fix the color. To keep it lighter you could use a transparant white stain, will keep it from darkening as much.

I used a good grade of spar varnish on my table and I have been disappointed. It looks good and I am sure it weathers well but it seems to be a dirt magnet. The dirt/charcoal dust seems to bury itself into the surface. I just built an accessory table and I used a polyurethane on it.[p]Toy Man
