Stopped by Albertson's on the way home to pick up a pork tenderloin and all they had were these little dinky things from Morel and that sucker has 30% SOLUTION. Well, back in the fridge section for that 2/3 of a pork tenderloin, and off the butcher section for a nice fresh 3 pound piece of pork loin at $3.99/lb.[p]I just rubbed it down with olive oil and Dizzy Pig Ragin River and it's sitting direct at 350 with a little chunk O' Guava.[p]It should be ready in about 30 minutes and the Raspberry Chipotle sauce is waiting.[p]Beers & Good Egging to all this weekend![p]GrillMeister

GrillMeister,
Today, I ordered some guava wood. How do you like it?
By the way, can you send me that Egg image you posted earlier; I'd like to use it for wallpaper. Thanks.

Michael L, I just recieved my second #10 box today. I didn't want to run out. It's a good dense wood with a mildly sweet flavor. I haven't found anything I don't like it on.

Michael L,[p]Guava is great when you want a subtle smoke flavor. It's now right up there with Hickory as my favorite wood.[p]Egg Pic is on the way.[p]Cheers,[p]Ed

GrillMeister,
Thank you!

sigmore,
Sounds like a great smoking wood. Now I really can't wait to try it. But alas, my letter must first get to Hawaii, and then the wood must make it to Massachusetts. Well, it will give me something to look forward to.

here's the guava chunks that you can expect to see. Only strange thing is if you are inclined to soak your wood first the guava throws off a reddish brown color that will substantially darken the water and I would just imagine might stain a Formica counter top.

RRP,
Great photo and nice dog. I was advised not to soak the guava. Given your experience with the wood, is that sound advice or not. Thanks.

Michael L, I paypal mine to Florida. Takes 5 days. Really good deal. Order 2. You won't be sorry.
-
sigmore,
Shoot, the money order went in the mail late this afternoon. I was a bit hesitant to order two because I knew nothing about the wood. Well, I can always order more. Sounds like you really like the wood. How does it stack up to hickory?

Michael L, Guava is a lot denser, sorta like mahogeny or something like it. I don't soak it, I just stuff it in the ole red hole. Makes the fire cool down for a little and sets the wood a-smokin. Anything you slap in that smoke is gonna be good. Do I really have 3 days off?
-
sigmore,
Yes, three days off. And already I smell smoke. . . Have a great one.
