Another gasket question

I've had my medium BGE about 2 weeks now and have used it about four times. Yesterday, I did a slightly speeded up version of beer butt chicken, with the dome temp around 300-325. Just after I put the chicken in, I noticed a thin stream of smoke coming out the back near the hinges ( the self-locking new kind of hinge). I looked quickly inside to see that the gasket was slightly charred on both the bottom and the top in the area directly above and below the hinges ! It did not continue to smoke. I am positive nothing was spilled or splattered. Can anyone tell me what I shoud do or what happened ? It was no worse at the end of cooking than it was when I discovered it.
Is something out of alignment ? Maybe this has been happening slowly
over those first few times and I never noticed ? Anyway, what's up with that gasket ?

    BD,
Sounds like it is not properly seated. Loosen the bands and let the top settle down on the base then re-tighten the bands, that should do it.

BD,[p]My felt gasket seam is in that location on over time it has pulled apart from it "tail" end and I get a little smoke exiting from it. Its so small its not a worry. Could that be what you are also describing?
