Not just for us
I have the good luck of having some time off and cooking for others. We have 3 families... One pregnant, one starting chemotherapy, one with a full knee replacement. It feels really good to be able to help these guys out. I AM NOT tooting my own horn. It's just great to be able to use my hobby and passion to help people going through difficult times. Pulled pork this weekend, baked potato soup tomorrow, maybe meatloaf and other things that can be frozen. It's not much but there's not much I can do.... Ok, egging and drinking beer, smoking a cigar, I owe them.

A few of us from the firehouse throw a party at one of our houses and all bring gifts for the local capa shelters and we pick a family every year to help out. This year it is a fellow firefighter fighting cancer. The guy is mid 30s with a family and a Vet that is having a struggle with cancer.. I thought we would take it one step further and serve food for $10 a plate and $5 cups for alcohol and donate the proceeds to a family. I love to try and give back.. usually its dogs and pets because they cant choose steps in life but we have a soft spot for people also.... at least sometimes (most of the time we are jaded by people in my line of work..Beaufort, SC

Good deeds, man. It's a lot of fun to cook for others, especially at times when they need hot food in their bellies.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Nothing wrong with being grateful for what you have and giving to folks in need. Everyone needs a hand once in a while and I'm sure they all appreciate your kindness. Nice to be able to incorporate your passion in the process but you've earned the beer. Cheers.-The GoatMarietta, GAXL BGE
