Ceramic Feet Replacement for Mad Max Turkey

So apparently BGE no longer offers the ceramic feet referenced in Mad Max's turkey post. Being a new egg owner I don't know what is and is not acceptable to place in the cooking environment. Could I just go to the hardware store and buy some copper spacers to allow for the airflow?

Will any sort of metal work? Will anything harm the plate setter?

I believe some use the copper spacers, although the most inexpensive and easiest route is to make spacers out of aluminum foil. Prior to picking up some feet from an online retailer, I just balled up some foil (actually made them into cubes) and it worked great. I have seen alot of folks that do that as well.

Copper elbows or Ts work fine. Some also use small ceramic pots from Wallyworld, but probably out of season.

I just use foil balls too. That way if they ever get misplaced it's no big deal.

pot holders from Lowes. Set of 3 for about $5.

I use a few 3/4 inch nuts - works great.
