Hello All,
I'm a relatively new egghead (June) and I'm doing my first Boston Butt for some pulled pork. I plan on doing 2 at a time. One is a 6.5 # and the other is 8.5#. I only have 1 thermometer. I'm not sure which one to put it in. Do I monitor the smaller butt then when its done put it in the larger one?
Also, I plan on putting them on at 20:00 tonight. I hope to have the ready to eat by 12:30 tomorrow. Does 250 deg sound reasonable? Or should I kick it up?
Thanks

back of egg tends to burn hotter, place the larger butt at the back, smaller one in front.canuckland

Monitor the small one. When it passes the fork test check the larger one. I've done a couple @ 350 all the way through (thanks RRP) and they were excellent.Dan, Columbia,Mo.

I'd put the 8.5 pounder on at 9pm and the 6.5 pounder on at 10pm or so. 8.5 at the backend of the grid. This gives ample time on the back end to either slightly hurry up to finish or relax with them mellowing in the cooler. Once they bust out of the stall, you are probably looking at about 2 hours to finish.twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.
