Third cook - apple pie
Wish me luck.
First try out I roasted tomatoes peppers squash garlic - made a hot HOT sauce and a smoky tomato spread. Both good.
Second try was a roasted chicken with potatoes carrots and celery root. I got nervous it was taking too long and let it run too hot. The chicken was delicious but the veggies were crispified.
This time out I am attempting a rustic apple/apricot pie. Here it is on its way into the egg. I will post a finished photo later.

Oops. We ate before I remember a finished photo. Early dinner to accomodate a toddler and his parents.
Sorry about my phone's crappy pictures. This came out very very well. Nice crispy crust although less color on top than I might prefer. I somehow didn't figure out that I needed a space between the PS and the pie plate until it had been baking for a half hour. Used some foil and a piece of a broken baking stone. FWIW the crust and filing were very loose interpretations of basic Joy of Cooking recipes. I have orders to make another for a birthday party this weekend. -
Looks good from here.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Was the flavor smokey? I love my smokey BBQ but I can't imagine a pie.

No smoky taste although it might be interesting to try. But I had to restrain myself from adding a light dusting of habanero powder. I am very much a beginner but I waited quite awhile to get the temperature steady. There was very little smoke this time. I think that may be why.
