Finally built it!!

Built this yesterday out of western red cedar. Now I gotta figure out how to finish it. Any ideas? I want to preserve the red color if possible and avoid the silver grey color.

nice. Sand it with at least 120 grit and cover everything you can with spar varnish. 2 or 3 coats is best, sanding lightly between coats. Every couple of years you can sand and add another coat and it'll keep looking like new.

I used a marine grade spar varnish on mine great protection plus really makes the grain and knots stand out!!!

Yes. Went to Home Depot, got the wood and had it cut free there. Took it home and bolted it together. Jigsawed the egg hole.
