peeling material on inside of lid/dome

I noticed material peeling on inside of lid on my large big green egg. I'm not sure if it from the egg itself (defect) or residue from cooking/smoking. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Picture? If black and flaky, it's likely creosote. Time for a clean burn or scrub it with an aluminum foil ball.

If going the clean burn route-load your platesetter or stone to clean it as well and pull your dome thermo before you get going. No need to wrap it on itself- and be ready for a new gasket once finished. YMMV-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
