Restaurant Depot membership

Does anyone have any information about joining Restaurant Depot? I seem to remember seeing a post about getting in with a KCBS membership? Thanks

I was able to open an account by using the HOA paperwork as a "not for profit" organization. They still rang up the taxes though.

Just bring your KCBS card to the customer service counter and ask for a day pass. One thing to remember is that it is cash only.

KCBS web sites states one day pass to RD for joining. I don't know if you can go multiple times under the membership or not?

Yes you can. Just get a one-day pass from customer service each time.

I was able to get a membership with a business license and tax ID. I am not in the the restaurant business

Use cash only. RD is having trouble with card fraud. They had a warning on their website. I found out the hard way after my card was hit.

Are y'all buying meat at RD? I know you can get some harder-to-find cuts at RD (e.g., whole plate beef ribs, picanha). Are the RD prices any good? I've always wanted to shop at RD, but never been able to score a membership. Just wondering if it is worth joining KCBS for the opportunity to go to RD.

The meat is really good and cheap. I have been buying black angus briskets to grind for burgers at $2.44 a pound. Also got some untrimmed skirt steaks for like $4 a pound that were really good. Have not tried the fish but it also looked good and they have a crazy cheese selection.

For somethings, yes, you have to get the entire 40 lb case.  For other items, you may just need to buy a 5 lb bag at a higher per item cost than the entire case.  (Not everything is 40 lbs, some are HEAVIER)

GREAT POST.  I have been trying to find a way in to Restaurant Depot . . . thinking this KCBS might be it? But the "one day pass" thing has me worried. Before I join KCBS (only reason is for access to RD) can someone else please confirm that this will allow me to shop at RD for the entire time my KCBS membership is active?  

Also, I just called my local RD to ask and they have no clue.  I didnt want to push it too hard and end up breaking into jail - if this is a loophole. I would hate to join KCBS for $35 and only be able to get in RD once.

You take in this form with your KCBS ID and show it to customer service.

I have been to the one in Norcross, GA many times using the KCBS membership deal.

I just took a look at their flyer and I have a few quick questions about the meat/fish:

1) do they have fresh seafood, or is it all frozen or previously frozen?

2) I know they dont get into organics, but do they share any info about their meat (ex: grass fed, antibiotic free, etc?  All I see is "superior angus beef" but nothing else.

Stopped at RD (Mesa, AZ) yesterday to see if they would let us look around.  The woman at customer service was extremely helpful.  Said sure, do you want a day pass in case you would like to buy something?  Needless to say we made use of it.  Trying some of their meat products today.

She knew all about the KCBS membership and said just show it at the desk for your day pass anytime.

Fresh seafood is available in certain locations. The meat is meat nothing fancy but good quality.
