replacing gasket question

I had to replace the gasket on my Large egg but it keeps rubbing and causes a wrinkle in the back when it opens & closes. Has anyone had this issue too? I read that some people "go naked" and do not use a gasket, does this work better? Do you loose some heat as it without the gasket as it will not be as tight a seal? Anyone have any suggestions....

I'm just guessing - Check all the bolts on the bands and hinge, reset if needed.Dan, Columbia,Mo.
