What to use to protect table from hot grill accessories?

I've seen pictures of people's grill tables where they've inlaid granite tile or some other material capable of withstanding the heat from a grate/platesetter/etc. temporarily pulled from the Egg. For those of you with BGE tables that are all wood what do you place your tables to keep the wood from burning when you put a grate or platesetter or something that's been in the Egg a while and is very hot on your table? I was thinking about just getting 4 12" pavers from the hardware store to make a temperature-tolerant storage are on the table but if anyone has any other ideas I'm all ears.
Thanks

I have a piece of scrap granite on the right side of the table. See if there is a granite company near you go ask if they have a piece (what ever size you need) and would they cut it for you. Mine was cut for the cost of a pizza for the cutter and they threw in the granite from the scrap pile.

I use a 1/2 -3/4 inch thick piece of corkboard that can handle all the hot objects. Works great. Serves just like a trivet.GeorgePalm Beach Gardens, Fl and Blairsville, Ga.

I have some large stone tiles left by the previous owners that we found when we moved into our current house. I keep about six of them on the table shelf and use some on the table top for things that are hot or messy (easier to wipe down the tile than the table) or lay them on the floor when I need to take out the hot platesetter or grill grate (my egg is on a wood deck). Work fine and I can arrange them as needed.__________________________

I don't put anything hot on my table. I put it on the ground, or if it's food, in a pan or foil. But a trivet would work.

Thanks for the advice on things to protect the table.Nola - putting things on the ground. Makes perfect sense - I'm sure the patio cement nor the paver stone extension would mind a little heat.

I use a Grill Pad to put the hot grate/platesetter etc. Picked it up at Home Depot.

Pick up an 18 x 18" ceramic tile at Home Depot. I inlaid one in my table, but considered just setting it on top. Cost: $4.70XLBGE, Small BGE, Homebrew and GuitarsRochester, NY
