Smoking with cherry lumber?

Options
My dad had some leftover cherry lumber from a job. I took a few planks but wonder if it's safe to use for smoking. I'm quite sure there's no chemicals in it and it hasn't been stained or varnished. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

I have several boxes of the stuff, The only cherry I have and I use it all the time.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
