Everybody, here is some additional information from the manufacturer:

 The height with the spacer is about 5" and without is 4 1/4". Extra spacers can  be added when not using the plate setter but with the plate setter it will hit the lid. You can buy spacers at any hardware store. I came up with the 4 1/4 and 5" spacing using the large egg with the large grid top and bottom. Using the medium grid on top definitely gives more height options. The reason the brackets that attach to the grids are so long is to force you to mount it away from the edge enough to prevent tipping. I guess if you have a large roast on top and nothing on bottom it could tip, but I've been using mine for about 4 years now and have never had any issues.

 He also stated that shipping should be figured out tomorrow. I see the light at the end of the tunnel so I will also get the Paypal going too.

I have that same thought and I think it will provided you use a medium or small grid for the upper grid...

If it doesn't; I'm still going to use it with the plate setter down on the normal fire ring...

I'm planning on getting a new large and med grid and just keeping it assembled and ready to go

Please put me down for one...  I already have the CGW swing rack for my large (I love it and use it all the time), can use this on the XL, and am always up for new things for the Egg and really, really, really needing them isn't at the top of my criteria

Not sure if this has been asked, but is the group buy pricing available to us Canadians?  I'd imagine shipping would be a few dollars more and from what I understand there is a some customs paperwork that needs to be done when shipping to us.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Baking steel on the upper, stone on the lower. Raised up on PS with the stone elevated slightly on egg feet. swing out the steel to slide on the pie and go. With it raised on the lower grate it will have about a 3" gap  from the top(since the extender is 4.25 inches without the spacers). Playing with fire is so much fun!

I think this will be the exact solution to get the bottom and radiating top heat just right for this style.  Can't wait to give this a test run once I'm setup with the right equipment!
