I purchased some salt Mackeral this evening. I like to eat this fish in the mornings with grits and eggs. I usually coat with black pepper and flour before frying in the pan. I wonder how is would be on the Egg tomorrow morning. Anyone every done this? The fish is in soak to ridd it of salt for tomorrow morning. Yum yum !!![p]Jerry

    Jwirlwind,
I fry fish in the egg often. I use a cast iron skillet with the handle cut off.
My setup is raised grid, direct heat, skillet in and warming up. Bring the dome to 400 degrees and your ready.
Plop in some clarified butter and lay the fish down so that the last part down is towards the back of the egg so any splatter is away from you. Cook and turn untill fish flakes and is opaque.[p]You can try grilling but it will not be like pan fried.
Good luck,--salt mackerel in the morning....? With lot's of strong coffee, I hope.

  • Clay Q,
Yep, strong coffee for sure. I am not sure if I want to fry it or grill it. I have never tried to grill salt mackeral. Either way, these fish are great. [p]Jerry
