    I should have pointed out that I used food grade RTV silicone. It says in the label. Sorry about that.

    bringing back an old thread but I'm curious. How do you know if your probe is bad? Mine still give me a reading but they are way off. I put both in cold water that read 40* with my thermapen. The food probe read 48* and the cooker probe read 125*. Can they be re-calibrated or are they just done?
