@JMSetzler, what is your interest in this product, may I ask? Would you be honest and spill?

So you think the "select" ceramic cooking dudes( "Kamado" Owners) are clueless and will shell out the $$$ to get something like this. Really?

Allow me to take you back in time to review one of your first posts.

And you think a bunch of others will "just spend the money" ???

  • I'm not wealthy and I own BGE because I can flat out make good food on it.  Eggs don't rot or rust out every 3-5 years so in the long run, I think they're cheaper.  So much for your "You must be wealthy if you cook on an Egg" argument.

I'm not sure about your "independent" product review because you were given a Grill Barrow.  You state your KJ will live in it from now on.  Your strong defense of this product makes me think you are connected to it.  Lastly, if Grill Barrow wants to promote their product, they should buy advertising someplace.  This is the second time in the last 6 weeks this product has been promoted on this forum.  Other folks have been asked to stop advertising their product on the forum and Grill Barrow is no different.

I agree.  I can't go back and delete my post.  If the site admin would do me the honors, I'd appreciate it.  This forum is everything I was warned it would be.  I'm sorry for the **** intrusion here.  ****...

So the members of the forum are collectively "****"? While I appreciate your candor, I don't quite see how people balking at spending that much money on a "utility" cart as something you should be wary of. It has a singular purpose and is quite expensive to boot. Granted, it looks of high quality and may fit a specific market. Just because some people give it a hard time do they deserve to be called names? Fred called you out on a clear conflict of interest and violation of forum rules. It's one thing if you bought it and are extolling it's virtues, but it appears that you were sent one with the implicit expectation that you would advertise for them. For good reason: you do a great job with your cooking videos and your site is very well put together. However, advertising on the forum is considered "spamming" and is typically dealt with using humor by the members. Didn't you notice the Mangrates reference?

For someone who thinks we are uptight, you really need to lighten up. You add to the forum so don't worry about this. We like having you(at least I think so).

If what I do with product reviews is considered spam, i'd simply prefer that the post be deleted.  I thought someone might be interested in seeing this product but the results of that are quite obvious.  Some of the products I review are provided to me and some are not.  My review of it is objective and I do like and believe in the product.

If I have violated the forum rules, please correct the problem by whatever manner you choose.  I haven't shared other product reviews here unless I thought they would be of interest to the members.  I'm sorry that this particular product has created such an uproar over the price tag.
  • @JMSetzler - I'm sorry if what I said offended you, but this is a clear conflict of interest.  It's not like somebody gave you a few bottles of BBQ sauce and asked you to review them.  The high presumed value of the gift taints your opinion in many people's view.  For example, you own a company that manufactures solid gold spatulas and you gave me one to review on my YouTube channel and keep afterward.  I review it and say it's the best spatula ever made.  It might very well be true, but some people will have the impression that my opinion could be influenced by the valuable gift.  I'm not saying that happened here, but you should be aware the situation could be interpreted that way.

The no advertising rule keeps the forum a free exchange of ideas and not cluttered with threads advertising all manner of equipment and food products.

No hard feelings.  I hope you continue to be a part of the forum and I wish much success for you in the future.

@jmsetzler - not sure I understand you stating that I don't get uptight and then proceed to drop an f-bomb and call people a-holes for having truly unbiased opinions on a forum which is designed hoping to attract people with unbiased opinions. I come to this forum for unbiased opinions on products, cokking etc... And I also always try to give my unbiased opinion back (well perhaps with the exception of Notre Dame). I am not nor ever will be associated with any product in the future (kamado wise) and when I see something that seems ridiculous I will provide that feedback and you can whine about me being uptight all you want I could care less. And don't act like this is the first spot where price was a major factor in this product - see below your review on a different site and the reaction once price is discussed. I don't ever post links to other sites, but have to point out some of this. In my opinion, this company made a significant error in pricing wheels an metal to move a kamado - an @aviator pointed out your pricing comments in previous threads.

You are on a Big Green Egg forum doing a review of a product (with an admittedly very narrow market) with another brand of ceramic cooker in it. I assume you were expecting the feedback you have gotten. If you had used the search function before posting you would have seen that this product had already been introduced here to an underwhelming response.

Implying that the members of this forum are just rich guys who couldn't possibly understand the value of this wheel barrow knock-off is truly insulting.

I was going to give you a pass until you dropped the Fbomb and called the entire group here ****. It would serve you well to remember that you are casting a wide net with a general attack like that.

"This forum is everything I was warned it would be"...give me a break. You have been on here for at least a year.

Sorry we didn't all immediately agree with your review. I didn't realize that was how it is supposed to work with unbiased product reviews.

Nevermind...I was going to suggest you could edit your post (with the F-boms and A-holes) but it is too late now ;)

While I am here...I do think this is a cool product, but I also agree the price is too high.  Just my honest opinion...not trying to fan any flames or anything :).  I think the price will have to be lowered if they expect to sell these.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

when some pushes a product on here my first thought is do they have a dog in the hunt... what's their motive. when I reviewed the mangrate I wasn't affiliated with mangrates... they were a " gift". I'm not accusing @JMSetzler of anything...I would just like to know up front if it's merely a review or sales.

that being said... I'm in no way affiliated with Ozark Oak... merely a street dealer.

Couldn't the local muffler shop bend you the tubing and the rhino liner spray it before you add the garden cart wheels? I doubt it will be long before others knock it off for about $300. I think I will try to throw one together and see.
  • You guys are cheap and have too much time on your hands. BGE tables for the large egg are $550+ and they live on the patio. Give the guy a break.

Of course, some people here probably make their own toothpicks and would rather strap an egg to a Big Wheel than pay $750 for a barrow. But I appreciate the review. Thanks.

Some tables are 120, some are 2000. It is all what you want for yourself and what you want out of it. To each their own. If I don't think it isn't right for me because of cost, that doesn't make me cheap. Cheap infers that I can afford something but choose not to for whatever reason. What if I can't afford it?

    Nm. You missed the point.
  • Not really. In a market, if a buyer thinks a product is overpriced he negotiates the price or does not buy the product. If the seller overprices the product relative to his market, he does not sell much. It's pretty simple.

I don't understand the personal upset some feel over a product deemed over-priced and the conspiratorial contempt some feel toward the reviewer. But then again, this is a passionate crowd when it comes to all things Egg and that is probably for the best overall. Occupational hazard maybe.

It is not a personal attack against the people who make it or the product itself. This it what happens when there is a review on something and shown to the public. We (the market for this product) feel it is priced to high. If the people who are involved cannot take this criticism whith open eyes and learn from it maybe they should find a different feild to work. It is like product testing, throw it ourt there and see what people think so far the majority here fell it is overpriced.
  • There were no personal attacks until the reviewer decided we were a bunch of A$@&%#$'s.  On the first post I found it funny that they're touting high quality when the item was sitting on a few boards when on the barrow.  I didn't bother to watch the video since I agree it is priced too high.  I will accept his apology, but wouldn't own any of their products even if given to me.  That's just the way I am.  Post some food porn and I'll look at it, but please refrain from trying to sell me anything.

I agree with you on the market topic. My comment was in reference to you generalizing the members of the forum as "cheap", not the product.

I don't see where there is personal upset is over the poster. The price? Yes. I think that the upset was at the "advertisement" aspect of the posting, which is considered verboten by the forum rules. Personally, I don't care either way.
  • I was half joking about the "cheap and too much time" comment but that didn't come off.

I suspect that if this product were priced at $50 the attitude/reception would be different. I appreciate it when people post photos and reviews. I don't feel threatened that someone might "try to sell me something", whether it is a product or a concept.

this is not meant in a disrespectful way..

the reviewer has 51 visits. if Cen-Tex or little Steven posted a product and said they liked it and might be worth checking out... I'd check it out.

Also to ice the cake he ran a thread about a year ago asking about the egg. Then goes and buys a chargrill acorn thing. Then he shows up here again no egg and 2 kjs in his videos. Just my opinion but I like contribution not slinging of products.
