Anyone ever switch caster wheels on their nest?

The XL I just got is going to stay in the garage for the most part. My medium is small enough to have a home near the front door on the landing.
My driveway is rocks. When pulling the XL out it is a **** to get it to move far on the rocks. Anyone have any tricks or possibly put on bigger caster wheels?

Try and build a plywood base with foam-filled pneumatic casters:They can be expensive, though(30+ per wheel). They're made to go over grass, dirt, and pebbles without loosing air.
-
Yea I was looking at 10" version of those on amazon.. $25 per wheel. To rich for my blood.

First, I sure hope you have a "handler" on it. Second the cost is a lot less than turning over....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

They make an egg handler which ties the egg to the nest with an integral handle. They really help stabilize the unit for those with roaming eggs. Depending on how rough the drive is, you might want both bigger wheels and a handler. Anything but a tip over, right. That would be tragic and possibly dangerous.
-
This is true. I have seen the handler but my dealer didn't have it. It's on the list.

I have handlers on both my Larges and they stay on the porch. Good insurance....Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

Nice. Do you pull that behind your dune buggy?

I like that. I bet cheaper than the plywood option too? How well does it function?

I found a couple options searching far back into the archives. Here is this one 2007or this one 2010Not sure if these eggheads are around to answer questions anymore. BobbyQ was mentioned in both of these posts so that setup might be his.Good luck finding a solution..Large & Small BGE, CGW Two-Tier Swing Rack for BOTH EGGS, Spider for the Wok, eggCARTen & and Cedar Pergola my Eggs call home in Edmond, OK.

Thanks that is pretty much exactly what I was thinking.
Do you or anyone know if that is an older style nest with the platforms at the bottom (empty bolt hole) or are they just welded on?

Take the picture to a local fab shop... I'm sure they could make something like that pretty easily for you.

Sure happy to help.I think it is the older style but you could call BGE and ask when they switched to the newer ones. If it was my $1000+ egg I would probably want to get them welded, for piece of mind if nothing else and take it to a fab shop like @hapster suggested.Large & Small BGE, CGW Two-Tier Swing Rack for BOTH EGGS, Spider for the Wok, eggCARTen & and Cedar Pergola my Eggs call home in Edmond, OK.

I was just thinking about this the other day. We are going to be putting in a dry laid flagstone patio and was wondering about different wheels for a smooth "ride" over the stones. Trying to decide between a table vs ability for mobile egging anywhere on the patio.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

Some really good ideas in this post. I don't have to move my egg around, thank goodness! But if i did, i would go for that four wheel pneumatic setup, with two of the wheels none turnable and two of them lockable.. I bought a used egg for my daughter and the castors were locked up, i bought the bigger castors and it made a big difference in the operation..

You could cement a smooth pathway as well. Just a thought.
