Soapstone for Pizza?

Is anyone using a soapstone for pizza on the Egg?  I've been cooking pizza for several years now in my oven and have used a 1 1/4" thick soapstone (17x17) with great results.  I've been thinking about getting it cut down to fit the egg.  Any thoughts?

  • Soap stone is used extensively in the Scandinavian countries.  I lot of homes have ovens in the center of the home made of thick Soap Stone slabs.  They heat up the oven to a high temp and then turn it off.  It stays hot for hours and heats the home.  It is almost indestructible.

    Simple ingredients, amazing results!
