Table for XL Egg

Im wanting to build a basic table for my egg before i buy it. If my math is right the grill surface is 24" so I'm allowing 2" for the thickness of the egg and then 1" for a gap between the egg and table. So basically if I make a concrete table top with a hole diameter of 27" will that be enough. I will be able to make the shelf after I get the egg so I can adjust it a little.

26.25" diameter hole for the XL. See attached.

Little advice for xl table. Don't put the egg in a hole or you will never get it out. Instead, make the hole a half circle so it can slide out as opposed to picking the dang thing straight up in the air.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

I like the 1/2 circle idea. In fact it would help me out a lot. I don't plan on moving it much but there will be the odd occasion where i will need to take it to a family cookout.

Plus the table doesn't have to be so deep.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

If you plan on taking it out, Travis is right.
You can also invest in some forearm forklifts or a pot mover.

If it's still too heavy, take out the firebox/ring....still too heavy take the top off.

I can move mine by myself but I have to take every single piece apart. The base nearly kills me every time.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

You guys are great. I love this forum. I do like Travis' Idea with the table not being so deep.
-
When you say don't me the table so deep do you mean from front to back or from shelf to top of table. I am in the middle of building mine and need to modify and work bench made out of 2 x 6 for the project.
-
As you look at the table, from close side to far side is depth.
Width is from left to right.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -

I second sliding the XL into the table rather than dropping it through a hole in the top

JeroldHarter, is that granite or cement top?
