Indexing Dome -- Suggestions please!

I am a very happy LGBE owner for about 2 months. After going through some ring slippage at first, I think I now have them tight enough. The domes seal well, BUT I have around a 1/8 + inch underbite in front. I intended to loosen everything and realign, but the plastic safety things BGE supplied will no longer fit over the hinge bolts (probably a direct consequence of the underbite).
How do I secure the hinge so I can adjust the dome? (I tried to find a thread on this... I'm sure this is a common problem).
Thanks for any advice!
