Egg set-up on a boat-pic
In another thread it was mentioned having an Egg on a boat.
Here is a set-up that was posted a few years back...nice.

Very slick. I'll bet that egg stand is custom and cost more than the egg

That is one place I would not deep fat fry in a wok :-tSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now).

I wonder if the rest of the boat is nice? $-)

How many scoops of anchovies do you think that bait tank can hold. :>

Fire + boat = bad news.

Engineering at its best. Great lines on the stand, a bit impractical on a boat but again, to each his own.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

They better tighten up those base screws before they hit rough water!Mike
I'm ashamed what I did for a Klondike Bar!!

Wouldn't the movement of the boat on any sort of a wave height over time break up the internal ceramic components?

Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup... Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee -
At one time, someone had a picture of a mini on a boat, mounted in a gimble, which does just what HH is referring to - keeps the Egg level, as the boat moves around, under it.BJ (Powhatan, VA)

I don't see the point of having a boat-mounted egg on a gimble unless you were really set on having a water pan.

Look! A small money pit mounted on a gigantic money pit! Of course if the gigantic money pit is affordable, only my envy is at issue here.Flint, Michigan

Many of the charter boats in the Pensacola,Fl area have Eggs on board along withDeep Fryers.Pensacola,FL

I just dont get it. I am a boater and an egger, not comfortable with an egg on a boat.
-
Very neat set up though. My boats could hang off the back of that one. Maybe I am just jealous.

I guess depends how big a boat talking about. Something in 35-40+ foot range an Egg makes more sense bc maybe away from land for days or longer.Boom -
The way I see it, if the boat's big enough to have (or does have) a galley, then adding an egg is just adding another cooking appliance.

Bitchin' stand. One might assume they only fire it up when it is smooth water.....LBGE

I hear some fishing charters will come back to the marina and prepare fresh catch of the day for their parties. We cooked in Seattle at the water's edge looking accoss the water at the space needle cityscape one weekend....Egging with a beautiful water view, good times.
I have the Egg, just waiting for the boat. LOL

Having an egg in a boat is like having a hole in a hole in the water that you both throw money into. Ahh..the good life.

Down here in Pensacola a number of the charter boats have eggs on them and I have been friends with most of the guys for years! Some have had the BGE on their boats for 4 years and no problems at all. Works suprisingly well till you open it up and the chicken rolls off onto the deck! True story... lol

that is a well constructed, very nice looking stand.
Not sure I would want an egg on a boat, well, let me rephrase, I want one but not sure I would do that. Might be more likely on a lake, but I definately would not on salt water. Have pitched and rolled way too much on 40-50 foot boats. Would be concerned about the pull of the weight up that high on the fiberglass deck in the cockpit.
Guess it would depend on the specfic boat, what the floor of the cockpit was like.
Hey if it works for someone - more power. I would definately prefer cooking on an egg to the little propane powered magma.

Maybe they travel with the firebox, etc stored (and padded) separately and just cook when they're tied up to the dock.
-
Marina where our boat is would not allow. Something about fire hazard... Either way - Very nice stand - I am almost lusting for that stand in the back yard.
