Anyone ever put a chimney on an egg?

I live in a condo, my patio is just adjacent to my neighbor's patio. When I fire up the egg hot to do steaks or burgers the smoke is farily obnoxious. I was considering to put a three foot stovepipe on top, to carry the smoke higher, over my neighbors nose. I was just wondering if anyone tried this?

I have read on another site that chimney height is very important to the cooking process. According to what I have seen that would not be good for a number of reasons.

Paul,I have put a 5 foter on mire to keep the smoke from coming in the house, but, you cant open the top without removing it.
    It also becomes very hot

    Paul,
you might want to rig up an exhaust fan, make it in a real pretty box on a stand and place it behind your egg, it'll throw that smoke a good 20 feet from you and your neighbors.

  • Paul, et al,
My solution to Paul's problem employs perhaps 6 feet of flexible aluminum vent pipe. To make it portable, it is attached to lenght of copper water pipe. Since I have a roof edge on my gazebo porch, the flexible pipe is supported by a piece of aluminum rod. Which is bent so the end of the flexible pipe swings free of the top vent of BGE, when inorder to open the top of the Egg. Smoke hasn't been issue since. Once the flexible pipe is warmed, it actually increases the draft that aids the burn. Life Is Good![p]
