XL BGE TABLE QUESTION

Was just staring at my XL BGE and day dreaming like I usually do when I thought of a question about making my table.  When cutting the hole for the egg (which will be circular), I am wondering if I need to make room for the hinge/spring assembly?  Does not seem to matter for the other sizes, but since the XL is shorter and wider I was curious.  If not, how high to you recommend setting the BGE in the table?

Depends how far you want to "sink" the egg into the table.  I didn't want my egg to sit above the tabletop too much so I "formed"  a notch in the back for the hinge to drop into.  If you sit the egg up high enough above the tabletop, you don't need to.  With the lid open, simply measure from the bottom of the hinge to the bottom of the egg to get your clearance (if you don't want a notch cut in the table.

So with that lid open, how far does it extend about the table?  Looks to be about 1.5-2"?
