Another transport question

I didn't think much about how to transport an egg until I saw that most (if not all) have the egg stand upright. I was hoping to lay it down in my van with many blankets or is that just asking for trouble? How tall is a Large Egg in it's nest? Can the egg easily be taken out of the nest for the trip?[p]Finally after 1 1/2 yrs I can finally pick the egg up on Saturday. Whole family is going on Saturday to be egged.[p]Howard
