Ideas for cutting a hole in a wooden table

I keep waiting for the day when someone uses a maple bowling alley section for an Egg table top.

my 2 cents - i used a jig saw to cut the hole for my table. It didn't work as well as i would have liked. The blade deflected a bit because the wood was too think (2"), so it was not perfectly straight and required a lot of sanding to fix. Go with a router if possible.

A friend of mine has a coffee table made out of a bowling alley lane. It looks really cool with the arrows and all.FearlessTheEggNoob said:I keep waiting for the day when someone uses a maple bowling alley section for an Egg table top.Large BGE from Normal, IL
