V Rack Use for Butt Smoking?
OrangeandBrown
Posts: 5
I am going to be smoking two six pound butts later today and was thinking about using a V rack with a butt on each side of the rack (versus directly on the grate). Has anyone done this and does anybody have guidance on if this is a good, bad, great, etc. idea?

I use a rack every time 2 works just as well as one

Just another way to skin a cat. I would think the only difference is that it raises the butts and would put it in a slightly higher temp as it will be slightly higher in the dome. Other than that, I don't think there would be any difference since you are cooking them (presumably) with indirect heat anyway.

what it does for me is allows me to pick the thing up easily and dump it into a bowl for shredding....
