Thermometer calibration?

My cooks have been taking a bit longer than recipes call for so I tested my thermometer - is about 8-9 degrees high. Question is - is there any way to calibrate the egg thermometer or just cook everything at a "higher" temperature?

8 or 9 degrees shouldn't make much of a difference, but it can be adjusted by turning the nut on the back. Once you move it, test it again.
