Just Ordered Demo Egg

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Just wanted to say hi and that I just signed up to pick up a demo egg at the Waldorg eggfest. I have been looking into the eggs for awhile online and this seems like the perfect way to pick up my first egg. Any tips on transporting an egg in the back of an SUV or any other eggfest info I should know?

    Beech,
When we transport the Eggs, we use one of those tension straps and wratchet it in place. I have a minivan, so I take out the middle seats and secure it to the back of the front passanger seat. [p]Brett

    Beech,
Congrats on your purchase! I throw eggs in the back of my pathfinder all the time. I get those ratcheting straps and there are tiedowns in the back of my SUV. I bring a blanket to put between the side wall and the egg, and just strap it down. As long as you can secure it from tipping over, you should have no problems.[p]Look forward to meeting you this weekend. I will be bringing home an egg for a friend, and would be happy to show you how I strap 'em down.
Eggfest info?? One tip. Come hungry and thirsty!

  • Thanks for the follow-ups, I'll definately bring some rope and blankets and that should be enough to transport the egg. They said that I pick the egg up after 5:00, is it gonna be cooled off by then?

Beech, eggs cool very slowly. It will cool much faster if you bring a tool (can, spatula, etc)to remove the charcoal and then use oven mits to remove the inside firebox. It will still be warm but not too hot if you get the insides out of it.

  • tn slagamater,
there are some folks that will start around 3:00 to empty all the charcoal out of the eggs to facilitate faster cooling. .. . most eggs are packed and ready to go in the 4 to 5 o'clock time frame. ...
