Anybody out there with an XL care to speak to the cooking performance? I have a large and love it but was thinking of adding to the family in a big way.[p]XL vs. Large, does it take longer to heat up, hold its temp as well, direct grill as well, hot spots, etc?[p]
Thanks for any info.

TxEgg, it heats up just as quickly as the large but it can develop hot spots since the grate is so big. On the + side, you can cook indirect over a "cool spot" by just building a fire on one side. Best thing for even cooking is to spread the coals out after they get started. It can hold aan awful lot of lump. I have cooked 24 hours at 240 and still had half a load of lump left. Right now, if I don't cook on my mini, I cook on the XL. If it's toolarge for the mini, it's not too small for the XL.

    Wise One,
Thanks for the info. From the pics on the web,it looks like the cooking grid sits a little higher in the xl, closer to the level of felt. Also the entire thing looks to be proportioned a litte different, dome a little flatter and bottom not as deep. Is this the case?

TxEgg, depends on which one you're looking at. The initial design was a bit flatter but my understanding is that the latest (and final) design is a bit deeper and looks more like a large.

TxEgg,[p]I'm pretty sure we will have one at the Texas Eggfest in a couple of weekends down here in Austin. Come on down and give it a try. I'll check with BBQ Outfitters to confirm.[p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister
