The Rocket City Cook-off in Huntsville, AL was my first KCBS sanctioned event as an honorary member of the Grateful Pigs Competition BBQ Team. I was fortunate enough to be in Huntsville during this event, but only stayed for Friday night. Huntsville turned out to be a great venue and I was impressed at the facilities provided to the professional teams. Electric and water was routed throughout for all the teams. As other mentioned, there were loads of eggs at this competition. The weather was fantastic and it was a great time![p]We even managed to get ourselves on the local news (being the egg publicity hounds that we are).[p]

Squeeze and GrillMeister look on while Tony Smith from The Grilling Room gives the Channel 31 reporter a quick intro to the benefits of egging. I tried to plug the Texas Eggfest, but the reporter was only interested in local news (Darn!)[p][p]HSV5.jpg
Here the camera man gets a closeup of some burgers we're cooking for lunch (which both channel 31 guys later enjoyed). We even had folks come by later and say "Hey, we saw ya'll on the news". [p]

These guys placed pretty well.[p]

These eggs were from Atlanta[p]

I found this lonely egg in the Shade Tree Division.[p]

I think this is BGEWDE's setup.[p]

And finally, the famous Dr. BBQ behind a smoke screen chatting with Smoke Signals.[p]What a great time! Thanks for the invite Squeeze!! I hope I have to be in town for meetings next year.[p]Now, time to focus on the upcoming Texas Eggfest![p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister

GrillMeister,[p]Great photos! I love the one with Dr.BBQ with his eggs setup between/on the railroad tracks. The XL could probally stop a train....not so sure about the other end though...LOL[p]Steve-B[p]
  • GrillMeister,[p]Very cool pictures...looks like you had some real fun! My question is where did you get that umbrella that looks like a tiki bar? I have never seen anything like that and would love to have one or three....[p]Andrew

    Andrew Flashback,
That was Tony's umbrella and I am not sure where he got it but I will say shade was needed this weekend. Thanks for posting the pics Ed, I sent some more to you so check your mail.

Squeeze,[p]I'll second that on the umbrella. It's pretty cool and adds a n island flair to competition.[p]Thanks for the pics. That finished brisket looks pretty good to me. How long did the leftovers last?[p]Cheers,[p]GM
