What is cherry wood good for. My local egg dealer gave me a bag of cherry chips yesterday.

Cherry, and just about every fruit wood that I've run across, makes a milder smoke than harder woods like oak or hickory. To me, its a little milder than apple, but stronger than peach. I use it with things like pork chops or tenderloins, burgers, brats, fatties. Sometimes chicken. Anything i want a distinct taste of smoke, but nothing really strong.

You can use it for anything I mostly use it for chicken, turkey, ribs. I never get wrapped around hard and fast rules that say you can't use this with that. Try combos.

Man i should have used it on my turkey i smoked yesterday.i was just Leary of messing up dinner for e everyone. Thanks man

I like it on chicken and turkey. When I do turkey legs it is my go to wood.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

It's the only wood I use in my bbq business. Any pork, chicken or turkey. I get it, like most of my wood from a firewood supplier and cut some of it up for use on the egg.

Yep...Cherry, apple and pecan are my favs. I always seem to pick cherry for my ribs, but as stated the fruit woods are very versatile and can be used with a variety of meats.

Thanks guys im.still new to the egg i have only had it two weeks. I love it

I use the path chosen by stillaughing. I have an old 50lb sunflower seed bag full of cherry that I pulled from our firewood pile and chunked it up. I will often use a chunk of cherry with a chunck of pecan (store bought) when doing chicken or ribs. Used to purchase cherry as well till it was pointed out to me that much of the firewood WAS cherry. No sense paying for something twice:)Nerk Ahia LBGE
