Sunshine State Eggfest 2012 update: Calling all Ceramic Iron Chefs

Greetings Eggheads,

Things are moving along and this year's Sunshine State Eggfest is rapidly selling out. Cooks tickets sold out in a week and there looks like only 35 tickets remain for tasters.  Even if you did not register as a cook, that doen't mean you can not compete for the Ceramic Iron Chef.  Do you have want it takes to throw down with the best?   If you would like to compete, please email littlechef@bubbatim.com.  Here is the info and the rules:

 

Registration sign up deadline is Feb 15, 2012

Participants will be notified on Feb 16, 2012 to allow for adequate planning.

Rules:

:Chefs will have 30 minutes from opening the mystery ingredients to cook, plate and present to the judges.

: Each Chef will be provided with a mystery basket, containing 5 ingredients. All 5 items must appear on the final plate.

: Participants may bring any additional items of their choice (Excluding Meats, Fish, & Sea Foods) however, no items can be prepped or pre-cooked. The only meat item allowed for plating will be provided in the mystery basket.

: Chefs must supply all utensils, equipment and seasonings to complete their cook. No power equipment is allowed.

: Chefs will be required to load and light their own Egg 60 minutes prior to the start of the competition. During this time the cooks will be allowed to setup their work stations only. No food prep is allowed during this time. Only the chef and two sous chefs are allowed in work area at any time.

: Judges will be independent parties, with no affiliation to The Big Green Egg.

: Judging will be on a scale of 1 to 10 in the following categories: Presentation, Taste, and Originality.

: The Ceramic Iron Chef will be announced at the end of the door prize drawings.

: It is absolutely mandatory that everybody has fun!!

: Note: The Ceramic Iron Chef Competition will consist of no more than 5 teams. Each team will consist of a Chef and up to 2 Sous Chefs (assistants) selected by the Chef. If more than 5 competitors sign up for this event, the participants will be selected using a random drawing.

:The Sunshine State Eggfest will assist with special needs for contestants that are flying in, i.e. cutting boards, etc.
