Hey All, After having my XL BGE for 2 months and reading all the posts about the gauges, temps and all the other info out there, I decided to check them all Even the one on my egg in boiling water. Results (Brand new Thermopen) 212.4, (Egg Temp.gauge) 210, (Dial, That I used to use) 180 and the remote(Oregon Scientific) 211. The BGE has not been calibrated since I have had it.

I did the same . My TELTRU 200/750 was about a needle with above 210 degrees from the factory and that is about as good as a dial can get.
Now make an ice bath and check your therma pen. What was the altitude where you tested? That could be why you were .4 over.
I grill therefore I am.....not hungy. -

I did my the other day, and was shocked when I saw the results. Not bad for OEM.

That's good as long as the tip is not resting on the bottom ...Never eat anything passed through a window unless you're a seagull ... BGE Lg.

My egg's thermometer was within a few degrees of boiling water. Good enough for what it needs to do.
