    I use the electric starter because I have the timing figured out.  I can plug it in and have it working while I do my food prep.  Also, I saw that the fire starters were something that I would have to continually buy which is why the dealers push them on you when you buy your egg.


    I also use a chimney with oil and a paper towel in an emergency like when the power is out.

  • I cut my fire starters in 1/4's. I put it in the middle . Works every time. Takes about 15 minutes to get a good fire gong in my xl. Plenty of time for a beer.
