My favorite tool for my EGG. This will heat it up fast. Sometimes I have a hard time getting the

temperature up to a high temp for steaks in a timely manner or getting it adjusted from 250 to 350 in a short time (for example) Anyway..it works for me and yes I do work for Makita so I had one available to try out. It is a cordless shop blower. I also use it to blow the charcoal dust off the egg after cleaning out and just cleaning up leaves, etc. on the deck.
It is small, not much bigger than a cordless drill

I use a heat gun when I want to heat the egg fast. For $30 it's basically an 1100 degree blow dryer.

I just use a 1500W hair dryer... but only when necessary.

Someday I'm gonna buy one of those old-fashioned, leather bellows to heat my Egg up, that'd be cool.

I just use one of these. I think I'm going to get Spider-Man one for Christmas though.

Don't laugh...but my "stoker" is some left over junk I had laying around that just happened to be a near perfect fit for the egg's lower vent.
1) Radio Shack project box 270-232 (aluminum backing plate thrown away...I never used it)
http://support.radioshack.com/support_supplies/doc32/32303.htm
2) Panaflo FBH-09A12M 12V DC 92mm brushless fan with matching wire grate, salvaged from some computer long ago
3) 100ohm potentiometer as "speed dial"...just because it was already there...for the egg, I've always used it at full speed
4) female power jack
5) spare adjustable voltage (used at 12v) DC wall-wart power supply
Like I said...this was all left over junk from a previous ventilation use...but it turned out to be perfect for "cheating" when I want to get the egg going in a hurry. I have the fan mounted inside the box (obviously a big hole cut in the box for it), sucking air into the box, and just place this on the egg cart up against the lower vent. The fan is probably 20 years old, and I couldn't find specs just now on its rated CFM. The pot lets me dial in from about 7.5 to a bit over 12.5V to control the fan speed.
In addition to helping to get a fire started, it's also handy for if I've been cooking low and slow, and want some real heat at the end. Just open the vents, plug this in, and watch the fire flare up.
