Baked some Sourdough Bread on the egg today
Baked three loafs of bread today on the egg, I will have to work on it a bit the crust is just not as good as what our stove gives. It would be great to move the bread baking outdoors in the summer.

Thanks glad that you think it looks good, what I don't like is the lack of a thick crust.Gerhard

The bread looks pretty darn good to me! Have you tried spritzing the dough with water when it's placed in the egg?Every day is a bonus day and every meal is a banquet in Winter Springs, Fl !

I've heard that people spray the raw bread with water and that helps with the crispinesscontext is important

What bread recipes do you use? Someone please share a recipe. I make the dough from Mother Earth News called something like no-knead bread but have not done it on the Egg. I have made naan which turned out very good. Nina in KY

I have done this recipe at least once a week for the better part of the past coupe years....sometimes on the egg, usually on stone in oven.

Thanks for the comments. I maintain a sourdough starter culture in the fridge, if is kind of like having a pet just less of a commitment, you have to feed it once a week no matter if you use it or not. The photo of the bread on the recipe card has toasted sunflower seeds in it and as a topping.GerhardP.S. It was not that I was unhappy with the bread just that the crust was not as good as it comes out of the oven. The next time I baked at 550 through the whole bake an it worked fine, I haven't baked bread on the egg since but will definitely in the summer as the oven heats the house too much in the summer.
