Had some leftover Western Red Cedar Grade A Vertical Grain (no knots) planks and 2x4's and stained it with Cabot's Clear. Took the idea from some other pictures Iv'e seen on this site. All I am missing is the final stone beneath the egg and will be placing a piece of granite on one side to prevent scratching the cedar to much with pans/pots.

Yeah that looks nice. And you're right about the granite.
Over in frederick, maryland, there is a place that sells granite tops for kitchen counters. They sell leftover pieces. Any company that does granite kitchen tops will sell you a "remnant". Thing about the granite thou is that it is a porous substance and will pick up stains.
Find one locally, as the shipping would kill you.
I was recently at an EGG FEST put on over in Reading PA. "Freds tastylicks music store and barbeque" shop. I saw a stainless steel table that cost about 2500. All pure stainless steel and custom made for the EGG. This company down in North Carolina (forget the name), was selling them. What surprised me was the temperature of the shiny metal surface in the sun. It was too hot to touch. I would have thought that being highly reflective it would remain cool. Great concept but I don't need my fingers cooking on the table top.
you got a really nice table there!!
