First use....Do I need to season the big green egg?
Options
Do I need to season my new green egg before I use it for the first time? I have heard that from a friend but havent seen it anywhere else. Thanks for any help. Look forward to joining egg nation.

You don't need to season it. Folks recommend that you not do any high temperature cooking for the first few cooks in an effort to "break in" your gasket, but there seems to be mixed results with that. Other than the gasket, though, you can do as you please on your first cook.
